On the other hand, sellers of sacrificial animals blame high token tax or ‘parchi’ for each animal on their entry into the animal market as one of the reasons behind high prices. The traders who have brought their animals from different parts of the country have complained that they are made to pay Rs3000 for every bull and Rs1000 for every goat before entering the animal market. They also complained that despite paying taxes they were not getting any facility from the market administrators or contractors. They said that they were buying a water tanker at Rs3000, the sellers said.

3 sacrificial animals markets in capital, 10 in Rawalpindi July 12, 2021 Islamabad : The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) has set up three markets in the outskirts of the federal capital to allow sale and purchase of sacrificial animals ahead of Eidul Azha. The sale points were established in suburban areas including Bhara Kahu, Taramri, and Tarnol in compliance with the anti-coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the district administration to curb the virus spread, MCI Administrator Syeda Shafaq Hashmi told this agency. “It is the responsibility of MCI to provide opportunity to citizens of Islamabad to perform their religious duties along with safety measures,” she noted.

The local administration has also ordered to set up cattle market at Gujar Khan near Domeli Bridge, in Tehsil Murree at Loir Bazaar, in Kalar Syedan near at bypass, in Kotli Sattian near Chavera Bazaarm in Kahuta near Tangi Road and at Tehsil Texila on GT Road. The DC told ‘The News’ that sellers would sell their animals only on sale points otherwise strict action would be taken against them. He said that we are adopting precautions to avoid coronavirus in cattle markets.
