The thirteen women, teenage boys and babies who were killed in a grenade attack in Karachi s Baldia Saturday night were on their way back not from a wedding but a post-nuptial ritual as part of Pakhtun tradition. Had fate not intervened, the bride s name could also have been on the list of victims. The attack took place at Hub River Road (also known as RCD highway) near Mowach Morr. The Shehzore mini truck, whose cargo bed was packed with about 25 passengers, mostly women, their sons and brothers, was attacked by militants, said police. Blood donation camps arranged in Swat

PESHAWAR: The Frontier Foundation Hematology Services arranged camps in various areas of Swat district to collect blood donations for the children suffering from thalassemia, haemophilia and other blood-related disorders.The camps were held in Khwazakhela, Manyar, Kalkot, Kanju and other areas where several bags of blood were collected, said a press release here on Monday.
The Frontier Foundation team comprising Ijaz Alam, Dr Amjad Iqbal, medical technician Zakirullah and assistant Suleman Pervez supervised the camps.Social figures of different areas, including Jahan Alam, Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Adeel, Farman Ali, Haji Khalid, Javed Khan and others collaborated with the Frontier Foundation team in holding successful blood donation camps.

TAXILA: A court in Hassanabdal sentenced a man to death in a murder case.The additional sessions court also fined Tariq Mehmood Rs0.5 million after he was found guilty of murdering Mohammad Nazakat and injuring Farman Ali in Pathargarh village in the limits of Hassanabdal police over a land dispute on April 4, 2014.
Meanwhile, three persons were killed and two others injured in separate incidents in the limits of Attock and Taxila police on Sunday.
Police said bodies of two persons were recovered from a property dealing office located near Teenmela Chowk in Attock. Later, they were identified as 55-year-old Malik Aabid and Ishtiaque, 41, both property dealers by profession. Police said the bodies had no injury or bullet marks and during preliminary medical examination it was found that their death was caused by consuming poisonous food or drink.
