BUTTE, Mont. â The housing market across the state of Montana continues to boom since the COVID-19 pandemic and can even be seen in the Mining City where people are looking for more affordable homes.
Platinum Real Estate Broker and Butte born-and-raised Clay Seccomb said the record housing spikes in surrounding areas of the state are getting too much for most people causing a high demand and low supply in Butte.
âComparing Butte to other communities, we are definitely on the lower end of values for our homes so weâre seeing people from Bozeman, Missoula, Helena, Boulder everybody moving to Butte for that more affordable housing,â Seccomb said.
BUTTE, Mont. - The Butte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization is launching a new program to rehabilitate severely deteriorated, vacant, or otherwise at-risk homes on an ongoing basis.
The program, called Butte Historic Trust and operated as a subsidiary of Butte Citizens for Preservation and Revitalization (Butte CPR), will purchase dilapidated properties, restore them according to preservation standards, and then sell the homes for a small profit, putting those funds toward acquiring and renovating more houses.
Butte CPR is a nonprofit organization formed by a group of concerned citizens seeing properties, and the historic fabric of uptown butte going away and looking to about preserving Butteâs long history.

BUTTE â On Mercury Street sits an empty building among many empty lots that once was a flourishing part of Butteâs history: the red-light district.
From Charlie Chaplin raving about the beautiful women in Butteâs red-light district to Evangelist William Biederwolf condemning Butte as hell itself for being the widest open town in the wide-open west, Butteâs red-light district has a lot of history.
The red-light district is no longer around and only three of the original buildings are still standing. One of those buildings is the Blue Range building. The city is about to vote on whether it should be demolished.

Itâs the revitalization of the large and empty buildings in uptown Butte that have many in Silver Bow county hoping to see these old buildings brought back to life. You know when you see buildings that have been a long time underused or vacant and they re transferring to new ownership, it gives you a sense of that there may be some reinvestment going to occur and redevelopment of those structures and yeah Iâm really excited about it, I think itâs great. said Karen Byrnes, the Butte-Silver Bow Community Development Director.
