Company acquires Thompson House Resort in Windham, New York
Wylder Hotels has announced the acquisition of the Thompson House Resort in Windham, New York. The group plans to reimagine, restore, and honor the history of the resort, set to reopen in the spring of 2022. Wylder Windham will be the third outpost in the Wylder Hotels collection, following the openings of Wylder Hope Valley in 2020 and Wylder Tilghman Island in 2018.
The Thompson House is a 110-room full-service resort on 20 acres with 140 years of the same family ownership. Located in the Greater Northern Catskills, this property is adjacent to the picturesque Windham Mountain and Windham Country Club, with the Batavia Kill River running through it. Multiple Hikers Rescued in Hudson Valley
One trail runner and one hiker had to be rescued in Greene County recently after suffering injuries while out enjoying New York s beautiful scenery.
On December 29, 2020, Greene County 911 received a call from a hiker who had suffered an ankle injury on the Escarpment Trail near Layman s Monument. The hiker was wearing sneakers and slipped on the trail due to icy conditions. Forest rangers arrived with assistance from a local fire department, and they were able to locate the hiker.
Once they reached the hiker, it was determined that the hiker had an unstable ankle, and they re-warmed the hiker and put the man in a litter, and carried him out a half-mile to the trailhead. The hiker was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

A man s 30-foot fall in the Adirondacks and a hiker with sneakers who slipped on an icy Catskills trail kept Department of Environmental Conservation rangers busy during the past week.
On Jan. 1, Greene County 911 received a report of a New Jersey woman, 29, with an injured elbow on the Batavia Kill Trail. She was trail running on the Acra Point Loop Trails with another runner until they separated to take different trails to Big Hollow Trailhead.
