Bandits set tax scheme for farmers in Kaduna

Speaking with our correspondent, a resident of  Dogon Dawa, Hamza Isa, confirmed that bandits had sent emissaries to inform selected communities, including Dogo Dawa, of the new tax scheme. “At the first instance, they have asked us to pay N10m before we access our farmlands. The communities affected include Dogon Dawa, Saulawa, Rafin Tukurwa, Damari and surrounding communities. We have been denied any opportunity to clear our lands to prepare for the farming season,” Isa said. On his part, Ibrahim Hamisu of Damari told our correspondent that most residents of Damari were still taking refuge in Dogon Dawa due to attacks.

Bandits kill 3 as mob frees suspects in Kaduna

The State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also said suspected bandits attacked locals at a recreational centre at Wawan Rafi village in Zangon Kataf LGA where they killed one John Isah and left three others injured. Aruwan said security agencies had recovered two AK 47 rifles along with over 43 rounds of ammunition from two individuals identified as Malachi Akut and Gabas Gaje who were arrested for further interrogation. He, however, said security report indicated that while the troops were trailing the bandits, an irate mob comprising youths and some individuals launched a violent protest and forcibly freed the arrested suspects from custody, aiding their escape.
