95 infected with COVID-19 following superspreader event in Republic

REPUBLIC, Wash. A superspreader event in Republic has led to nearly 100 people contracting COVID, forcing businesses to close over a lack of workers.
The Northeast Tri County Health District reported a dramatic surge in COVID cases connected to a membership drive at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles on April 9 and 10. As of Thursday, the Health District counts 95 attendees and close contacts tested positive for COVID from this event.
“This event certainly woke us up and now we’re dealing with the crisis that it’s created,” said “Dr. Sam Artzis, Health Officer for the Northeast Tri County Health District. “We shouldn’t be surprised, but we were, especially in Ferry County because they’ve been doing such a good success rate throughout most of this pandemic.”

The North Valley Hospital in Tonasket is sending some of their COVID-19 vaccines to Ferry County.Â
The vaccines are heading to Ferry County Health in Republic, Washington.Â
The North Valley Hospital received the vaccine on Tuesday.Â

The North Valley Hospital in Tonasket said they have received the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a Facebook post.Â
North Valley Hospital writing on Facebook that they will start to vaccine people Wednesday morning.Â
Tonasket is in Okanogan County and has a total of 1,468 cases and 31 deaths. Tonasket has 16 total cases.
