Famed Vietnamese restaurant the Slanted Door is getting a Wine Country outpost.
Chef and owner Charles Phan will open a third location of his hit restaurant at 1650 Soscol Avenue, in Napa. Phan only recently signed the lease and told The Chronicle he’s unsure when this new location will open, adding that it will likely be sometime next year. Kron4 first reported on the new location.
The new Slanted Door will replace the Kitchen Collective, a tony social club that was reportedly the country’s first private cooking club. Construction work is already underway on the restaurant, Phan said, and he is considering hosting a pop-up in Napa before the new location’s opening, though details are still to-be-announced.

Sweeping cuts and layoffs hit artisanal San Francisco chocolate maker Dandelion this week but the changes shouldn’t impact Dandelion workers’ unionization effort that’s still underway.
It’s unclear exactly how many workers lost their jobs, as first reported by SFist. A Dandelion spokesperson said about 40% of the company was impacted by a mix of cuts to hours, reductions in pay and layoffs. The majority of reductions are coming from senior leaders who volunteered to exit but impacted all levels at all departments, from chocolate making to education to human resources.
