Single-day Covid tally hits 1,400
Foreign travellers to get US-donated vaccine shots

The government announced on Saturday that the 2.5 million doses of Moderna anti-Covid vaccine donated by the US government would be administered to those Pakistanis, who intended to travel abroad on work or student visa.
The announcement by Planning Minister Asad Umar, who heads the government strategy to combat the global pandemic, came a day after the authorities received the consignment from the US. The announcement also comes at time when the Covid-19 pandemic showed signs of increase, again.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said in its daily update of the disease on Saturday that the single-day tally of coronavirus cases hit 1,400 level for the first time since June 7, pushing the national tally of active cases above 32,000 and the national positivity ratio to nearly 3%.

LAHORE: Novel coronavirus claimed six more lives while 153 new cases were reported and 254 citizens recovered in Punjab during the last 24 hours on Friday.According to the data shared by a spokesperson for the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), the death toll reached 10,761 and total infections 346,454 in the province.
Around 327,422 patients have recovered so far.As per the data provided by the P&SHD, currently 8,271 patients are under treatment in different hospitals.
The Health Department conducted 19,157 tests for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, which took the total tests into 5.67 million so far. In the last 24 hours, Punjab vaccinated 180,071 citizens at its 669 vaccination centres. The total number of vaccinated people reaches 8,786,789 in the province.

MULTAN: Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Sara Aslam has said that 12 per cent of the population has been vaccinated in the province while the target of vaccinating 20.7 million people will be achieved by next December.
She said this while talking to journalists after presiding over a meeting and visiting the Corona Vaccination Centre at Nishtar Medical University on Tuesday. The Punjab secretary said that the process of corona vaccination was in full swing in Punjab and the vaccination target would be achieved accordingly. The government had changed the advice of Pfizer vaccine and now Pakistanis going abroad had also been allowed to get Pfizer vaccine.
