Body of man recovered from Green River after attempting to save girlfriend
A man has died after attempting to save his girlfriend who accidentally slipped into the Green River. The woman was safely rescued.
ENUMCLAW, Wash. - A 21-year-old man has died after trying to save his girlfriend who accidentally slipped and fell into the Green River Friday evening.
King County Sheriff s Office deputies and members of the Marine Rescue Dive Unit (MRDU) responded to a missing swimmer around 5 p.m. near the Green River Bridge in Enumclaw. Officials told Q13 News a couple was at the bridge when the man went to help his girlfriend who fell into the river.

AUBURN, Wash. Two people were seriously injured in a wrong-way crash on SR-18 near Auburn Thursday morning.
Troopers say a car was heading east in the westbound lanes just west of 304th Street around 2:30 a.m. when it collided head-on with another vehicle, according to Trooper Rick Johnson with the Washington State Patrol.
Medics and trooper arrived to find both drivers with serious injuries and they were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
All westbound lanes of SR-18 were closed just east of the Green River Bridge for the crash investigation for several hours before reopening just before 7 a.m.. Johnson says they are still trying to determine why the driver was going the wrong way.
