CHANDIGARH: The need to return to growing more crops than wheat-paddy – the way it was before the Green Revolution era – with an effective marketing policy and support for other crops was highlighted at a panel discussion on Wednesday.
The virtual panel discussion on ‘Future of Punjab Agriculture’ was organised by Sidhu on his YouTube channel ‘Jittega Punjab.’ “Small and marginal farmers, and not the corporate houses, who have to be the key pillar of the agriculture policy. There is a need to increase farmers’ income with diversification and organic farming. Punjab should cultivate what people of the state eat – pulses, oil seeds and other cash crops. We have to reinvent to return to the pre-Green Revolution era by dividing the state into zones,” said Sidhu.
