The Green Lake Common Council Monday tabled its discussion regarding the City Hall gymnasium, which has been closed for non-essential use since October after receiving feedback from Green Lake County Health Officer Kathy Munsey.
The Common Council may revisit the issue at its meeting next month as several aldermen were vocal in their support of potentially reopening the gym for youth basketball, if they were presented with a specific plan that would establish proper safety guidelines.
Prior to the meeting, Mayor Ray Radis said he discussed the matter with Munsey, who recommended not allowing the gym to be reopened for sports.

Issue:
Short-term rentals have become a contentious issue in the city of Green Lake as residents worry that their neighborhoods will become dominated by Airbnbs.
While the Green Lake Common Council hasnât discussed the issue in detail for more than a month, the issue may resurface in the early part of 2021.
Background:
In September and October, the Common Council discussed creating an ordinance to regulate short-term rentals in Green Lake.
After debating amongst itself and listening to input from the public, the Common Council voted to establish an ad hoc committee to determine what rules should be in place for short-term vacation rentals within the city, which will be used to craft an ordinance.
