Villagers in Eynsham are angry that the priest at their Catholic church has locked the gates to the graveyard. Picture by Ed Nix An unholy row has broken out over access to a graveyard with parishioners accusing their local priest of shouting, frightening them and going “ballistic”. On one occasion the gates were locked with mourners still inside the burial ground, according to the local funeral director. The gate to the car park at St Peter’s Roman Catholic church in Eynsham had always been left open but now is frequently shut and padlocked. Residents who need to drive in to the churchyard now say they can not visit or tend to the graves of loved ones.
