A MAN who drove across south Essex while disqualified has been been spared jail.again. Paul Golding was sentenced in July last year for three burglaries, but was spared jail to allow him to turn his life around. Just five months later, after being banned from driving, he was caught behind the wheel on December 30, where he had no licence and no insurance. The 48-year-old, of Little Wakering Road, Barling Magna, was sentenced again at Basildon Crown Court. Mitigating, Paul Lazarus said that Golding’s behaviour was “ridiculous” but he had complied with his suspended sentence. He said: “He went to get a prescription in Benfleet. His mother is registered to a doctor on Canvey, he has to pick up a prescription and then go to the chemist. He does appear to have shown good compliance. He is living a decent life at the moment apart from this ridiculous decision to drive.”
Harry and Mason Mills have been spared jail after the attack in Grays in February last year. The two brothers had taken part in“Dry January” where they did not drink alcohol for a month, but then went out and drank heavily on February 1. Harry, 25, and Mason, 24, both of Dock Road, Tilbury, were sentenced at Basildon Crown Court. Judge Samantha Cohen said that an incident arose where Harry became angry over a comment concerning his girlfriend made by two other men. She said: “The pair of you acted in a wholly disproportionate and violent manner. You both became involved in serious violence.
