Author: Bryce Newberry (KVUE) Updated: 10:30 PM CDT April 10, 2021 AUSTIN, Texas Project Connect engineers are busy working behind the scenes on a design plan for Austin’s new transit system while a new group of community members work to figure out the best way to spend money devoted to helping people who could be forced out of their homes as a result of the project. When Austin voters approved Proposition A in the November 2020 election, that increased the City’s tax rate to start collecting the money needed for a massive $7.1 billion transit system, and $300 million of that was set aside to help with anti-displacement efforts.

To embed, copy and paste the code into your website or blog: After years of failed attempts, on March 31, 2021, Governor Cuomo signed into law the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (“MRTA”) legalizing adult use cannabis for adults over the age of 21. The MRTA provides for a regulatory scheme with multiple governing offices encompassing multiple license tiers, automatic expungements, home grow and social equity provisions. Below are some of the highlights of the MRTA: Regulatory Framework: Establishes an Office of Cannabis Management with a board comprised of 5 members, 3 of which are to be appointed by Governor and 1 by each legislative house, with the chair subject to Senate confirmation.
