Author: Bryce Newberry (KVUE) Updated: 10:30 PM CDT April 10, 2021 AUSTIN, Texas Project Connect engineers are busy working behind the scenes on a design plan for Austin’s new transit system while a new group of community members work to figure out the best way to spend money devoted to helping people who could be forced out of their homes as a result of the project. When Austin voters approved Proposition A in the November 2020 election, that increased the City’s tax rate to start collecting the money needed for a massive $7.1 billion transit system, and $300 million of that was set aside to help with anti-displacement efforts.
