The High Court today cleared the way for Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) to hold the 41st BCS preliminary examination on March 19 following the health guidelines.
The court summarily rejected a writ petition seeking an order on the PSC to defer the date for holding the BCS preliminary test citing health risk due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The HC, however, directed the authorities concerned to follow the health guidelines strictly during holding exam on March 19.
The bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder came up with the order after hearing arguments on the petition.

Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has reiterated that the preliminary examination of 41st BCS will take place on the scheduled date.
As per the commission s decision, the examination will be held on March 19 following strict health guidelines, according to several media reports on Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, a section of job seekers has organised a human chain in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the capital on Monday morning.
They demanded that the authorities concerned should hold the examination in accordance with the date of reopening of dormitories of universities and colleges.

The preliminary examination for the 42nd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) was held on Friday with the participation of 89 percent applicants.
The preliminary examination of the BCS was held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm only in Dhaka center, said Bangladesh Public Service Commission sources.
A total of 27,573 out of 31,026 candidates participated at the exam against 2,000 posts of physicians in the 42nd BCS while 3,453 candidates did not attend the exam.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) in November issued circulars of the 42nd and the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.
According to the circular, the 42nd BCS is special, as two thousand assistant surgeons will be recruited through it to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday instructed the education ministry to review whether educational institutions, which have been closed since March 17 last year due to the pandemic, could be reopened.
Surprisingly, hours after the instruction was given at a cabinet meeting, Education Minister Dipu Moni announced that in-person classes at universities would resume on May 24 after the Eid-ul-Fitr. Besides, the student dormitories at those universities will reopen on May 17, she said.
