Closure of border with India extended Staff Correspondent 8th May, 2021 11:50:45 The ongoing closure of border with India has been extended for another 14 days due to the worsening coronavirus situation in India. Bangladesh’s land border with India has been remaining closed since April 26. The movement of goods vehicles from India will continue even if the movement of passengers from India is stopped. A virtual meeting chaired by Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen on Saturday decided to extend the land border closure. Foreign Ministry Secretary (East) Mashfee Binte Shams, who was present at the meeting, informed the matter. It was decided at the meeting that only the citizens of Bangladesh, who are in India for medical treatment and whose visa is valid for less than 15 days, will be able to return to the country through Benapole, Akhaura and Burimari borders.
