An agreement was signed in this regard by Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexandra Berg von Linde and UNFPA Bangladesh Representative Dr Asa Torkelsson during a ceremony at the Sweden Embassy today. The new assistance takes the total Swedish contribution to UNFPA to 127 million Swedish kronor ($15.5 million) within 2017-2022 period. In a statement, Linde said during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is all the more important to ensure safe pregnancies and childbirths as well as reducing maternal mortality among the most vulnerable.
