I made it a point to sit beside fellow Dean Jose Joya during UP University Council meetings. It took a while for him to sell me a painting but he finally did, one of his first collages. Later, not knowing any better, I asked him for something in pink to match the bedroom wall of our little girl. He obviously tagged me as an innocent, didn’t take offense, and so now I have a nice pink Joya.

Looking to adorn your walls with some BTS-inspired art? You’ll want to check out the Grammy-nominated group’s new collaboration with Sideshow, a California-based collectibles company.
The licensing partnership kicks off this spring with a range of limited-edition products celebrating BTS and “their legacy as artists.” Among the items in the collection: the cleverly-named “deluxe statues” (a.k.a. 3D figurines) that take inspiration from the group’s live performances, and a statue inspired by the iconic BTS logo. There will also be several luxury fine art prints available in a variety of sizes and formats.

The return of live farm working dog sales is proving a popular sideshow to the traditional sheep dog trials in the greater Whanganui district.
In fact, for many years, word of mouth was the main method of securing a top dog for most hill country shepherds, with only the occasional live sale held.
The East Coast has been a longtime supporter of live sales, often in Gisborne, while the regular sales in Mangamingi out the back of Eltham have not been held for seven or eight years now.
Sideshow Theatre has announced a 2021 season of virtual readings, its first slate under new artistic director Regina Victor. A Feb. 28 fundraiser will feature an archival tape of Sideshow’s 2018 production of Mia Chung’s “You For Me For You.” And a “Freshness Initiative” reading of Preston Choi’s “Drive-In at the End of the World,” directed by Justin J. Sacramone, will take place July 13. .
