Firefighters battle 150-acre fire in Calaveras County

Firefighters were battling a fire in Calaveras County on Thursday evening, fire officials said.
The blaze, dubbed by Cal Fire officials as the Campo Fire, had burned 150 acres in the area off Buckboard Lane and Campo Seco Road in Campo Seco, Valley Springs (Calaveras County) shortly after 6 p.m., fire officials said.
The fire was 0% contained as of 6 p.m., according to Cal Fire’s incident report on the blaze.
National Weather Service officials in Sacramento urged residents in the area to evacuate if told by local officials. A 7-second video shared by the weather service shows large clouds of smoke rising into the air.

7:45 p.m. Thursday update: CalFire’s Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit said Thursday evening that fire crews “are making good progress and the fire … is 150 acres and 0 % contained. Resources will continue to work towards full containment throughout the night.”
6:20 p.m. Thursday update: The mandatory evacuation order has been downgraded to an evacuation warning, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said. The shelter at Calaveras High remains open to evacuees through 8 p.m.
Some Lode residents ordered to evacuate
Some Calaveras County residents are being told to evacuate immediately as a quickly spreading wildfire burns north of Valley Springs, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon.
