You will be able to see new colorful pirate themed floats that will have LED and specialty lights. The new floats added this year are for the city and for CITGO. Construction of the new floats began back in February of this year and they worked on them i the beginning of April and takes about 1-2 days to complete.

McLoud Public Works Authority receives $6.4M loan for wastewater improvements The Shawnee News-Star OKLAHOMA CITY – McLoud Public Works Authority (Authority) received approval Tuesday for a $6,475,000 Financial Assistance Program (FAP) loan from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board (OWRB) to improve their wastewater infrastructure. The Authority will use the funds for the installation of new headworks, two new sewer lift stations, and new sewer lines. According to Joe Freeman, chief of the OWRB’s Financial Assistance Division, the Authority’s customers will save an estimated $1,321,400 over the life of the 30-year loan compared to traditional financing. The loan shall be secured with a lien on the revenues of the Authority’s water, sewer, and sanitation systems, a one-cent sales tax, and a mortgage.

Buc Days comes back with new events in April

Put on your spurs and saddle up; Buc Days is back with a safe, socially distanced plan. The annual event presented by CITGO was cancelled last year due to rising cases of COVID-19, but returns this year with a mix of historical Buc Days events as well as a few new ones. Events postponed and set to resume in 2022 are the BBQ on the Bay competition, concerts at Rodeo Corpus Christi, Treasure Island shopping and the Buc Days Junior Parade. Since 1938, the nonprofit Buccaneer Commission has annually held the Buccaneer Days festival in support of bringing entertaining, educational and cultural events to the Coastal Bend. Beginning in 1996, proceeds from Buc Days have been awarded to students as college scholarships.
