The announcements were surely designed to goose Disney’s stock price, and cover for the damage done by the COVID pandemic, especially to its theme parks business, and led with a real focus on the importance of Disney+ to the company. The service has already racked up 86.8 million subscribers in its first year, and the company is hoping to get 230 to 260 million by 2024. Of the 100 projects that Disney announced, about 80 percent will debut on the service, and the price of it is going up a dollar a month to $7.99 next March.
