The Left Front said it would not hold any large-scale public meeting in Bengal, as Minister of State Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay was fielded by the TMC from the prized Bhagwanpur seat, amid a steep rise in COVID-19 cases, on Sunday, he said , Too, will stay away from organizing any major rally.
Mr Chattopadhyay, who is tasked with retaining the Bhawanipur seat after his sitting MLA and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee decided to contest from Nandigram, is the first candidate from the ruling party to take such a decision.

Muzaffarpur, the city in Bihar, where my ancestors come from – and where I also spent most of the lockdown working from home – has recently been declared as one of the worst cities to live in India. The findings of the
Ease of Living Index 2020, a survey of cities across the country, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, were released last Thursday. In the two lists – first for the 49 cities, with a million plus population, and the second for 62 cities, with less than a million population, Muzaffarpur finds a mention in the bottom of the latter. As someone who has the fondest memories attached to the place, I can assure you I am neither outraged nor surprised about this, and I can safely say, so are most residents of the municipality, which was formed more than 150 years ago in 1864.
