Dogs No Longer Allowed Inside Picaroons

Picaroons General Store announced Friday that dogs and other pets are no longer allowed inside its Canterbury Street location. Officials said the change, which does not apply to service animals, stemmed from a customer complaint made to Public Health. “We have been told by officials at NB Public Health that animals are no longer allowed inside spaces ‘where food is consumed, ” Picaroons owner Sean Dunbar wrote in a post on the Picaroons Brewing Company Facebook page.

Four previously reported cases are now considered resolved, dropping the active number of cases to 44. Thursday s new cases involve: an individual 20-29 in Zone 1 (Moncton region); and an individual 50-59 in Zone 6 (Bathurst region). Both cases are self-isolating and under investigation. “We are seeing more travel-related cases, which means it remains very important to keep your number of close contacts low and follow strict self-isolation guidelines for out-of-province travellers, especially during this holiday period,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “We still have a long way to go and limiting your contacts will reduce the spread of infections so we can avoid a surge of new cases in January.”

Of these, one is related to travel and one is a close contact of a known case. an individual 20 to 29 in Zone 5 (Campbellton region) whose case is travel related; an individual 50 to 59 in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) whose case is travel related; and an individual 50 to 59 in Zone 7 (Miramichi region) whose case is travel related.

Public Health says both people are self-isolating. We are seeing an increasing number of trave- related cases obviously during the holiday season, said Dr. Jennifer Russell, New Brunswick s chief medical officer of health. People are travelling more, but it is a very dangerous time to be traveling with the case numbers going up all around the country, all around the globe and also in the U.S.
