The two year-old had to be airlifted to a Halifax hospital with serious injuries on Friday. The situation led to the lockdown of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg and the South Shore Regional in Bridgewater. RCMP say they are investigating the incident and their major crime unit has taken the lead in the case. No arrests have been made at this stage. Aggravated assault prompted hospital lockdowns; young girl airlifted to Halifax

Bridgewater, NS, Canada / CKBW Apr 21, 2021 2:51 PM The RCMP’s major crime unit is leading the investigation in relation to an incident which led to the lockdown of two hospitals in Lunenburg county. Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg and the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater were both under lockdown orders last Friday. RCMP confirm they are investigating an aggravated assault which prompted the lockdowns. Police say a two-year-old girl had sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted from Bridgewater to the IWK hospital in Halifax. The child required emergency treatment for her injuries at the IWK ICU. RCMP spokesperson Chris Marshall says there was no threat to the public as those involved knew each other.
