There are a few schools that Mandel has ranked lower that I think could hang with Alabama B. LSU (No. 9) has the talent to beat this group. (It might have the talent to beat actual Alabama this year.) Oregon could win as well. Alabama B’s offensive line probably would struggle to block Ducks defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and linebacker Noah Sewell.
But even if I drop Alabama B behind those teams, it’s still a top-10 squad. Ohio State B wouldn’t be far behind. And that’s what frustrates those who would like to see a little more variety at the top of the sport.

In the midst of a chaotic 2020 college football season played during a global pandemic, several blueblood programs didn’t live up to their preseason hype. For some, it means restarting with a new head coach and new goals in ’21. For others, it means the upcoming season will display whether last year’s failures were a product of COVID-19 turmoil or a sign of larger program issues.
Here’s a look at the most underachieving teams in ’20, relative to preseason expectations, and what their outlooks are for ’21.

Justin Flowe makes several big stops with starting defense during Oregon Ducks spring game

EUGENE In his most significant playing time in nearly six months, Justin Flowe reminded everyone that Oregon had two five-star linebacker signees in 2020.
Flowe, who missed nearly all of last season with a torn meniscus, played a significant amount of snaps with the first-team defense and was among the nine players credited with a sack and also recovered a fumble during Oregon’s spring game Saturday afternoon at Autzen Stadium.
In all, the second-year freshman had five tackles, a sack, pass breakup and fumble recovery.
