The new battle royale game will offer a “AAA multiplayer gaming experience on mobile”
Krafton Inc, the South Korean video game developer behind PUBG has announced the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India, its new dedicated game for the Indian market.
The new battle royale game will offer a “AAA multiplayer gaming experience on mobile,” the company said in an official release. “The game will be released with exclusive in-game events like outfits and features and will have its own esports ecosystem with tournaments and leagues,” it said.
It will be launched as a free-to-play experience on mobile devices and will have a period of pre-registration before the launch. The game will be available to play exclusively in India.

PUBG Mobile India launch remains uncertain as there has been no update from the developers since their last announcement. The government’s response to an RTI query has revealed that PUBG Corporation or Krafton Inc are not in talks about lifting the ban on PUBG Mobile in India. PUBG Mobile along with 118 other apps was banned by the Indian government on September 2 citing security and privacy concerns. In November, the developers of the game announced a special version called PUBG Mobile India that was being developed for the Indian audiences.
According to a report and RTI filed by GemWire, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology has responded saying that it has not ‘banned’ public access to PUBG Mobile Nordic Map: Livik app under the provision of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. PUBG Mobile was amongst the most popular mobile games in India. Both its main version and its Lite version had millions of downloads in the country. But on September 2, the Indian government banned the game under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
