LMFM By Ruth O Connell The ex Louth Fianna Fáil TD was appointed to the N.O.A.C by FF Housing Minister
Former Louth Fianna Fáil TD Declan Breathnach has denied that his appointment to an €8,000 a year role on a state board, has any connection to his party being in government.
Both he and ex Fine Gael Deputy Noel Harrington were appointed to the board of the National Oversight and Audit Commission on April 28th, by Housing Minister Darragh O Brien.
The Department of Housing has told the Sunday Times that two former TDs applied through the public appointments service system and the positions were open to anyone who applied.
