For more than a year, many patients being treated at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust have been unable to receive visitors while being looked after in hospital . Noel Scanlon, executive director of nursing, said, “Introducing restrictions on our patients receiving visitors was a very difficult decision, made in response to both very worrying Covid infection rates locally, and national guidance.
PATIENTS in County Durham and Darlington will be able to receive visitors again from Monday as coronavirus restrictions continue to ease.

Members of the domestic team at Darlington Memorial Hospital received a box of chocolates from Darlington s Mayor Chris McEwan THE domestic workers who have been working hard to keep a hospital clean have been praised for stepping up to the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. Darlington Mayor Chris McEwan delivered 100 boxes of chocolates to the workers at Darlington Memorial Hospital as a Christmas gift to say thank you on behalf of the people of the town for their work this year. He said: Both myself and the mayoress have worked in the NHS and appreciate the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, particularly in these times to keep us safe, particularly the domestic team.
