The United States will give Thailand another 1 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine, to underline the long-standing close relations between the two countries, according to a Thai-born US senator.
Tammy Duckworth announced the planned donation, on top of the previously announced 1.5 milion doses, but she did not mention the timeframe or type of vaccine. We will be sending no less than 1.5 million doses of the Covid vaccine. In fact, the goal is 2.5 million, but the first shipment is 1.5 (million), the Bangkok-born senator said during an online forum organised by the East-West Center on Tuesday.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, with support from the military and Metropolitian Police Bureau, is setting up six checkpoints on outbound roads to prevent workers the leaving the capital for their home provinces, BMA permanent secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsoon said on Monday.
Ms Silapasuay said this is in compliance with a Centre for the Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) order to ban movement of workers from construction sites and their camps in Bangkok and five adjacent provinces for 30 days from June 28, to prevent Covid-19 spreading to other provinces.
Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Thursday gave an assurance the country's public health system will not collapse despite the number of hospital beds and health personnel being at critically low levels amid soaring new Covid-19 cases.
