San Antonio police investigate two unrelated homicides on Southwest Side

The San Antonio Police Department reported two homicides on the Southwest side Friday night.
The first occurred at 9:50 p.m. along the 800 block of W. Baetz Boulevard. A man walked into a home and shot the victim, an unidentified man in his 30s or 40s, officials said.
The killer then fled east along Baetz Boulevard on foot, officials said.
An officer spotted a man with a gun several blocks away; there was evidence he was involved in the shooting, police said.
Raymond Hernandez, 28, was taken into custody and charged with first degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

SAN ANTONIO – A 49-year-old man is dead and his 19-year-old stepson is in custody following a shooting on the city’s South Side Friday morning, San Antonio police said.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Alvarez Place, not far from Nogalitos Street and South Flores Street.
According to police, the man was arguing with his wife when the wife’s son intervened. Police said Jarren Diego Garcia told them the man was threatening his mom just before they got into a physical altercation.
