She was born September 8, 1940 in Decatur, Texas to Paul and Shiela Hawkins. Kay (Shate / KayKay) loved her friends and family with all of her being. She created beautiful beaded stockings for family and friends, painted and was an extremely creative and talented person. She also loved to watch her grandchildren in their activities whether it be golf, baseball, football, dancing, or cheering. She was their biggest fan. She proudly boasted of all their accomplishments and more than a few times Facebook posted their pictures.
