Bauchi to Convert PHCs Health Volunteers to Permanent Workers

By Segun Awofadeji In its efforts to enhance primary healthcare services in the state, the Bauchi State Government has assured volunteers working in the state Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state of its commitment to absorb them permanently as health workers. The state Governor, Bala Mohammed, who gave the assurance at the Urban Maternity Health Care Centre in Azare yesterday in continuation of the ongoing inspection of projects across the state, said very soon, the state government would free resources and employ the volunteers. He noted that upgrading of primary healthcare centres in the state is an intervention where the state government has used its counterpart funding to meet the health needs of the state, particularly for women and children.

Share The sum of over N1 billion is said to be spent monthly by the Bauchi State Government in its determination to provide quality health care services to the people of the state particularly for Primary Healthcare coverage.  The disclosure was made by the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir who also assured the government will soon absorb all  the over 2000 volunteers working in the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare centers as permanent health workers in the state payroll.  Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir said that very soon the state government will free resources and employ them in order to ensure that primary healthcare services was made readily available to the people.

World Bank s $317m grant to fund state health project ― FG

Share The Federal Government (FG), on Wednesday, said it committed a total of $317million World Bank’s grant to the implementation of the Nigeria State Health Investment Project/Additional Funding (NSHIP/AF). It said the grant was aimed at revitalising Primary Health Cares across 113LGAs in eight states of Nigeria. The Executive Director, National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Faisal Shuaib, made the disclosure at the NSHIP/AF Project Closure Workshop in Abuja themed “Healthier Result for All.” According to him, the agency had in an effort to improve access to quality health care for Nigerians, commenced the pre-pilot output-based financing in 2011 under the Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP).

By Joseph Erunke THE National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA,has said about 30 million Nigerians now have access to quality health services. The Executive Director of the agency,Dr Faisal Shuaib,who stated this, Wednesday,at the Nigeria State Health Investment Project,NSHIP Closure Workshop,in Abuja, tasked stakeholders at the event to come up with strong recommendations for strengthening primary health care delivery in the country. He, however, regretted that the “health outcomes have remained suboptimal in Nigeria despite many years of relatively increasing investments in the Nigerian health system through input financing.” Noting that the NSHIP project of the federal government has brought total turnaround of the country’ health sector,he claimed:”This transformation has ensured that about 30 million Nigerians, including women and children, have access to quality basic health services and secondary services for continuum of care.”
