Hyderabad: The city got relaxations for New Year parties on Thursday (December 31). Authorities allowed parties past midnight yesterday till 1am today. However, the police also managed to successfully keep a check on drunk-drivers with strict monitoring.

For New Year’s eve, police of three commissionerates Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda have announced traffic restrictions in various parts of the city.
Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said vehicular traffic in and around Tank Bund and Necklace Road will not be allowed from Thursday 10p.m. to Friday 2 a.m.
Vehicles coming from the V.V. Statue towards Necklace Road and NTR Marg will be diverted at the V.V. Statue towards Khairatabad and Raj Bhavan Road, while motorists coming from BRK Bhavan towards NTR Marg will be diverted at Telugu Talli Junction towards Iqbal Minar, Lakdikapul and Ayodhya.

The year 2020 was a year of mixed results for Rachakonda police with the overall crime rate dipping by 12% when compared to last year even as the crimes against women and crimes against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes show an upward trend.
Similarly, percentage of bodily offences, including attempt to murder also went up this year. Presenting the crime statistics to the media persons at the annual press meet here on Monday, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M. Bhagwat attributed the decline in crime rate from a year ago owing to factors like COVID-19 lockdown among others. So far this year, the police registered 20,641 cases, which shows a reduction of 11 %

HYDERABAD: Pug marks of a leopard found in the busy area close to the IT corridor, created a flutter in the city on Saturday. As per reports panic gripped among people after a leopard attacked a dog in the Roda Mistry College of Social Work premises in Gachibowli which is close to the Nehru Outer Ring Road entrance.
As per sources, the leopard entered the premises, attacked a dog, and dragged it into the nearby hills. A sweeper named Kalavathi working in the college saw the leopard dragging the dog and she immediately ran inside for safety. She informed the College Secretary B S Raju about it.
