Australia s supermarket giants have recalled a popular herbal tea amid fears it contains a dangerous chemical.
Food Standards Australia has urged Woolworths, Coles and IGA s to recall Nerada Organics Lemon and Ginger Organic Herbal Infusion Tea after ethylene oxide contamination was found inside its tea bags.
Consumers are warned not to drink the tea with Best Before dates from 08/01/23 to 22/01/23 due to the product potentially causing illness or injury.

Ethylene oxide exposure can cause local irritation of the skin, eyes, and upper respiratory tract, affect the nervous system and in extreme long-term cases with continued exposure to the chemical has also been associated with increases in cancer rates, according to NSW Health.
Australian supermarkets have removed a popular tea from shelves over concerns of chemical contamination.
Food Standards Australia said some batches of Nerada Organics Lemon & Ginger Organic Herbal Infusion Tea was found to have ethylene oxide contamination inside its tea bags.
It has warned customers not to drink the tea, after it was sold widely by Aldi, Coles, Woolworths and the IGA.

Nerada Tea Pty Ltd said it is conduct the recall because the product can potentially cause illness or injury from drinking it.
Anyone who purchased the tea should not drink it but return it for a full refund.
Two popular brands of herbal tea sold at Woolworths, Coles and IGA have been recalled due to contamination. Nerada Tea is recalling its Nerada Organics Lemon & Ginger Organic Herbal Infusion Tea 60g (40 tea cup bags), due to ethylene oxide contamination. Food products containing ethylene oxide may cause illness or injury if consumed. The product has been available for sale at Woolworths in NSW, the ACT and Queensland. It has also been available in Coles in NSW, the ACT and Victoria along with independent food retailers including IGA in NSW, the ACT, Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and West Australia. The recall relates to all best before dates from January 8, 2023 up to and including January 22, 2023.
