Headteacher Rebecca Wilson has written to parents of children at Winsley Primary. “We have continued to receive positive confirmation of COVID-19 cases in one of our classes over the weekend, she wrote. “The majority of all cases are asymptomatic. Therefore, in consultation with Tim Quick, Chair of Governors and Tim Withers, CEO, I have made the decision to close the school with immediate effect to allow a period of quarantine which will hopefully act as a circuit breaker. “All pupils and staff will need to isolate until this period ends. I will be liaising further with Public Health to determine the length of the closure but it will be for at least this week. I trust you understand this decision was not taken lightly and is what we believe is in the best interests of the school and wider community.”
