July 27, 2021 The Florida Gators picked up their first commitment of the 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon when they picked up an out of state target. 2023 tight end Mac Markway (6-4, 250, St. Louis, MO. DeSmet) committed to Florida over Notre Dame and many others on Tuesday. Markway visited Gainesville for the first time in June and during that trip he met with tight ends coach Tim Brewster for the first time and the assistant coach explained how the Gators could help his game. “He said that I could be a guy that could do everything for them, I can be a mismatch on the line and in routes,” Markway said on the message from Brewster. “He would move me around like h-back, in-line and flexed. I take a lot of pride in being an all-around tight end and he explained how he could prepare me for the draft.”
