A year out from the onset of the pandemic, fresh survey data from the Associated General Contractors of America offers evidence that Minnesota’s construction industry is still feeling the sting of COVID-19.
Rising prices and supply chain disruptions are hurting construction companies in Minnesota and across the country, according to the survey. Nationwide, 85% of survey respondents said costs have risen in the past year, and Minnesota generally reflects the national trend.
AGC unveiled results of the survey late last week. Conducted from Feb. 19 to March 4, the survey attracted responses from 1,500 companies, including 29 in Minnesota.
More than 60% of the Minnesota companies said they’re still seeing project delays or disruptions. Firms blame shortages of materials or equipment, potentially infected workers visiting the jobsite and other factors.
