As mother Julia Bussey slowly steered their car onto the red carpet of Jacksonville s 2021 Night to Shine s drive-thru celebration Friday, which was lined with wet yet boisterous volunteers, Amanda stood up through the open roof, danced, threw her arms into the air and soaked in the hoorays, woo-hoos and applause.
She later giggled and smiled at the memory. I rode with my mom! She was crying while we went down the red carpet, she said. I danced the whole way.

The Night to Shine prom was able to carry on, but with some safety protocols in place due to the pandemic.
KENNESAW, Ga. - The COVID-19 pandemic canceled a lot of things this year, but it couldn t stop Night to Shine .
Every year a prom for special needs teens and adults is held at churches around the world. It s called Night to Shine and is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
This year s prom was a little different due to the pandemic. Since it would be difficult to social distance indoors, at NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, they brought the party outdoors. It was a drive thru prom.

JERUSALEM, Israel – The coronavirus pandemic isn’t stopping people across the world from gathering to honor special needs individuals in their community.
For the first time, the Tim Tebow Foundation’s Night to Shine event officially made its way to the Holy Land. The event is a prom night experience hosted by churches around the globe for people with special needs ages 14 and older.
The Tim Tebow Foundation partnered with the Philos Project, King of Kings Ministries, and House of Wheels to make the event happen in the Holy Land Thursday night. The event, although limited because of COVID-19, took place at the House of Wheels facility in the coastal Israeli city of Herzliya.
Real Life Church Hosts Drive-Thru ‘Night To Shine’ Prom Event
Real Life Church in Valencia is one of hundreds of churches nationwide to host the “Night to Shine” event aimed at giving people with special needs “an unforgettable prom night experience,” starting with a drive-thru event Wednesday night.
The seventh anniversary of ‘Night to Shine’ is set to be celebrated at Real Life Church in Valencia on both Wednesday, Feb. 10 and Friday, Feb. 12, as hundreds of thousands come together nationwide to “honor and serve those with disabilities.”
“Tonight we are having a drive-thru celebration for our community with special needs,” said Real Life Church Youth Experience Creative Director Victoria Mendoza. “And it’s an event where we get to give our guests the gifts that they get to use to celebrate the Night to Shine 2021 virtual event.”
