The City Council honored Cambridge Community Television’s Executive Director Susan Fleischmann, who retired last week from the organization after 32 years of service.
Councilors unanimously passed a resolution Monday night, expressing “deepest appreciation” to Fleischmann “for her many years of dedicated service to the residents and to the city of Cambridge.”
Fleischmann, who started working in community media in 1973, was one of CCTV s founding staff members in 1988 and was named executive director in 1993. The council credited Fleischmann with helping make CCTV an “internationally recognized and award winning powerhouse in the world of community media.
The organization has won numerous awards under her leadership, including the Overall Excellence in Public Access Award a dozen times from the Alliance for Community Media.
