A Shawnee County Jail officer is on leave as the Shawnee County Sheriff s Office investigates a May 16 use-of-force incident involving an inmate.

The incident occurred after Spencer was booked into the jail about 4 p.m. May 16 in connection with driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving left of center, possessing drug paraphernalia, interference with a law enforcement officer and disobeying a lawful police order, Phelps said.
