BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â Friday night brought a showcase of homegrown artists performing at the Fox Theater with Nate Parrish with Modern Wives and NineFingers.
Hailing from Bakersfield, Parrish has finally embarked on his first solo project with the 2020 album, âIâM A WRECKâ. Citing influences such as Social Distortion, Ramones and The Replacements, he sticks to a straightforward, less is more approach to songwriting.
It’s safe to admit that 2020 and 2021 (thus far) have been devastating to the music industry, impacting the livelihoods of countless bands, venues, crews, and industry pros. In addition to the financial impact COVID-19 has had on the music industry, it has also affected fans who thrive on the interaction at a live show. In the absence of in-person concerts and festivals, we have seen the rise of livestream performances, mostly put on by bands who want to keep playing for their fans in whatever capacity they can manage.

2nd Annual Grizzly Awards Announces Winners
The 2nd annual Grizzly Awards event was live streamed via Facebook on February 20th and the winners have been announced! During the stream, awards were presented according to categories chosen to recognize highly valued members of the faith-based rock and metal industry.
The winners were chosen based on over 4,500 fan votes as well as the votes from a panel of 15 industry experts. In addition to winner announcements, the event featured a blend of prerecorded and live performances from The Protest, Disciple, Spoken, Project 86, Theody, and The Midnight Wedding. Presenters included Josiah Prince of Disciple, Nate Parrish, Jake Jones of As We Ascend, Lauren Kinder of Theody, and Caitlin Trlak of The Midnight Wedding. The livestream is available for replay on Facebook, and will be available soon on YouTube.
Grizzly Awards Premiering Tonight
The 2nd Annual Grizzly Awards will be streaming live tonight, February 20th, 2021. The Grizzly Awards’ purpose is to honor and recognize the artistry, passion, and craftsmanship of those in the faith-based rock and metal community. Audiences will see live performances from The Protest, Theody, and The Midnight Wedding. There will also be other performances by Disciple, Project 86, and Spoken. Presenters for the evening include Josiah Prince, Nate Parrish, Jake Jones, and Caitlin Trlak.
According to the Grizzly Team, the evening will also hold winner announcements in the 15 categories that comprised the Grizzlies this year. Winners were selected through a combination of votes from over 4,500 fans, balanced against votes from a panel of 15 industry experts from a diverse range of disciplines. The 2nd Annual Grizzly Awards will also feature segments that celebrate the faith-based rock and metal industry as a whole.
