Monday in Twin Falls was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and temperatures were in the low 80 s, so my family made the decision that it needed to be our first day back on the water in our kayaks. We loaded everything up and headed to Centennial Park to launch into the Snake River and attempt to at least make it to under the Perrine Bridge. Halfway to the Bridge We Got a Visit From Authorities As we meandered up the river, we saw that the Twin Falls Sheriff department was out on the water in their boat doing safety checks on the water adventurers. They slowly made their way towards us, so I knew they were going to ask to see that we had everything required.

You might not know it based on other drivers actions, but it s illegal to hold your phone while driving in Idaho. In June of 2020 we learned of the plans for the hands-free law and in July of last year it went into effect across all of Idaho. Yet, I drive around town and see people still holding their phone to their ear on a call or looking down, and away from the road, at their devices while driving. This month the Idaho State Police and Idaho Department of Transportation hope to raise more awareness about the law and help improve the safety of the roads across the state.

Twin Falls Sheriff Warns Of Illegal Lighting On Idaho Vehicles I am guilty of loving LED lighting. When I got my new car a few months ago, the first thing I did was put in LED floor lights. I have LED light strips around the front of my house, they are currently lit green for St. Patrick s Day. I also installed LED lights in the glass tiles of my stove back splash. So, don t get me wrong with this story thinking I don t love a cool accessory light feature. The Twin Falls Sheriff s office is a bit less enthusiastic about certain types of lights on civilian vehicles. They specifically mention colored lights and the off-road LED light bars as being a growing issue in Twin Falls.

Spring is Here, I Found the Final Pile of Snow in Twin Falls

I m bummed that we didn t have a very snow covered winter. I know a lot of people are excited that Spring officially begins this weekend and that the warmer days are going to be more common. I am also excited for warm weather, but I did have to kill three spiders yesterday at my house and the flies aren t far off. I d be happy with some warm days to trick the bugs and then a few days of wicked freeze to finish them off. Maybe then we d get more snow too. I m actually thinking about snow right now because I was just at CSI and saw this tiny pile of sad, dirty snow near one of the buildings. I don t think I ve seen any snow on the ground for at least a week up until today. I thought it was all gone.
