A woman jumped from the roof of a Newark home in a fire that displaced two families Friday morning.
Flames and smoke were coming out of the top floor window the 2.5-story home at 384 South 19th St., when firefighters arrived around 9:20 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
A woman inside the home jumped from the roof to safety, and was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were been reported.
The fire was considered under control just before 9:45 a.m., displacing two families comprised four adults and two children, Ambrose said.

Police body camera footage shows Newark officers rescuing a 76-year-old resident from a 2-alarm weekend fire that left four families homeless.
A 1-minute video released by the Newark Police Division shows Officer Roberto Vera instructing the woman to get on his shoulders before carrying her down three flights of stairs as the fire tore through 45 North 6th St., around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
Vera and Newark Officer Alicia Lauderdale responded to the call and canvassed the area for victims who needed to be evacuated.
After knocking on apartment doors, the officers found the 76-year-old woman on the third floor. After realizing she had difficulty walking, Vera put her on his shoulders and carried her down, with help from Lauderdale.

Newark police are searching for a man suspected of setting fire to a two-story residential building on the 100 block of South 11th Street on Friday, authorities said Sunday.
Firefighters responded about 11 a.m. Friday to a fire that turned into a three-alarm blaze at the building, which spread to two adjacent homes and displaced a family with four children. A 15-year-old boy was treated for smoke inhalation and is in stable condition, officials said.

Ninety firefighters responded to a three-alarm blaze in Newark late Friday morning that displaced a family with four children, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.
Firefighters responded around 11 a.m. to flames that broke out at a two-story residential building on the 100 block of South 11th Street. The fire extended to two adjacent residences, officials said.
The fire was placed under control at 12:15 p.m., officials said.
A 15-year-old boy was transported to University Hospital for smoke inhalation and is in stable condition, officials said. One family that consisted of an adult and four children were relocated.
