Nelson Bays Primary Health chief executive Sara Shaughnessy said Nelson Marlborough was one of the leading regions when it came to the country’s vaccination numbers. “We’re doing pretty well as you’ll see by the national league table. Nelson Marlborough has certainly responded ensuring their community is immunised as the ministry have advised.” According to Ministry of Health figures, Nelson Marlborough was ahead of schedule achieving 130 per cent of its vaccination plan to April 18. It had planned that just under 7750 would be vaccinated by April 18, while 10099 individuals had received the vaccine by that date. Shaughnessy credited “a very cooperative and collaborative way in which we work with the DHB, Public Health, Te Piki Oranga and ourselves to actually manage the immunisation schedule” as well as utilising the vaccines to their full potential.
