Recently, two cops were able to save the life of a girl who was about to jump in front of a moving train. Dial 112, the police helpline number, received a call from a man in Muthyalanagar, who has his house near the railway tracks, about a girl who had been waiting for a train for a long time. The man said that the girl appeared to be disturbed.
Automated vehicle fitness centres to come up in all districts in 5 years
The Transport Department has proposed to build automated vehicle fitness centres in every district across Karnataka over the next five years. This is expected to put an end to the manual process of evaluating the condition of vehicles, which is currently taken over by the money-spinning agents. Some people have entered the State Cabinet by paying bribes and blackmailing the Chief Minister, senior BJP member Basanagouda Patil Yatnal alleged in Vijayapura on Wednesday.
Mr. Yatnal, five-time MLA from Vijayapura, said factors that played a role in Cabinet expansions in the past were caste quota and district quota. “Mr. Yediyurappa has added two more factors - “CD quota and money quota”, he alleged.
The CD he was referring to contained potentially scandalous material involving the Chief Minister’s blood relative, he claimed. “Three leaders, including a MP and a State BJP vice-president, had conspired against Mr. Yediyurappa. They blackmailed him into inducting three persons. Others have paid bribes.”

Hours after Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa announced the names of those to be inducted into the Cabinet, he and his party were in for a major embarrassment as two party legislators Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and A.H. Vishwanath alleged that some had “blackmailed and bribed” him to find a place in the Ministry.
“Three people had come to me with a CD four months ago, at a guest house at Nelamangala, with a plan to make Mr. Yediyurappa step down. I was surprised that the Chief Minister’s grandnephew was also conspiring against him. Two of them have succeeded in joining the Cabinet,” alleged Mr. Yatnal. He, however, refused to disclose the contents of the purported CD.
