Another protest is planned for Friday by a group calling for the firing of beer-throwing Neptune Middle School Vice President Michael Smurro following his wife s comments about a trans woman using a restroom at a Galloway Township restaurant.
Lisa Smurro got into an argument last month with customers over what appears to be a transgender woman using the women s restroom at Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light and Tavern in the Smithville section. Her husband, Michel Smurro, threw a plastic cup of beer at a couple recording her.
In an email to The Associated Press days after the incident, Smurro apologized and said he should have just walked away from the situation.
The study s recommendations had multiple phases, which include:
Close the gates to the pedestrian bridges over Wesley Lake at 4 p.m. rather than midnight, to discourage Asbury Park patrons and workers from parking in Ocean Grove.
Allow Ocean Grove residents to petition to create residential parking zones. Neighbors could gain a residential parking zone if 60% of residents in a potential zone support it and a study finds their parking zone is 70% full of cars with at least 20% of those cars parked by people that don t live in the zone.
Install parking meters and establish three-hour time limits for business areas from May to September.

The victim in the shooting was treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot injury.
Mark Ruffin Jr., 22, faces up to 20-years in state prison if convicted of Attempted Murder subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act which means he has to serve 85 percent of the sentence imposed before becoming eligible for release on parole.
Ruffin Jr. would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison.
In addition to first degree Attempted Murder, Ruffin Jr. is also charged with second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and second degree unlawful possession of weapon.

A 22-year-old Neptune Township resident was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot another man in the parking lot of a Walmart during a drug deal on Wednesday afternoon.
The man who was shot outside the store on Route 66 in Neptune Township just after 1 p.m. was taken to a local hospital to be treated for an injury not considered life-threatening, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.
Ruffin was caught by police following a brief foot chase in which he ran across the highway, according to an affidavit of probable cause. Ruffin and the victim were acquaintances, the charging document states.

TRENTON - A federal judge has narrowed the grounds on which the children of former Neptune police Sgt. Philip Seidle can sue officials with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office over a decision to rearm their father with the gun he used to kill their mother in 2015.
U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp last week dismissed some of the counts in a federal lawsuit brought by the nine children of Philip and Tamara Wilson Seidle against the prosecutor’s office and some staff members, past and present, while allowing other portions of the lawsuit to proceed.
