The popular video streaming platform Netflix is back with another update and this time it is regarding the download option. Netflix has come with a new feature where the content will automatically download in offline mode based on the user’s likes and preferences. The downloads will happen based on many factors.
Those users, who have enabled the ‘Auto Download’ option, will be able to take advantage of this new feature. This feature works based on the user history.
When a person has “Downloads for You” option enabled, Netflix will auto-download certain TV shows or movies on your device based on your watch history, searches and preferences. According to the reports, this feature is currently available only on Android devices and soon will be launched for the iOS users as well.

Netflix regularly releases new features to enhance the user experience. In 2019, it rolled out Smart Downloads that automatically deletes the episode that users have finished watching, and then automatically downloads the next episode.
More recently, the sleep timer feature was announced which will turn off the content being played on the app after a while. Users can choose to turn off content in 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or until a particular TV show/movie ends.
Netflix also rolled out an update for its Android app, which improves sound quality, making it easier to listen to content in noisy environments.

Netflix will now stream Extended HE-AAC with MPEG-D DRC (xHE-AAC). This is applicable for only compatible Android mobile devices which is any smartphone running on Android 9 and newer. According to a
company blog, the audio will be able to adjust in accordance with variable cellular connections providing studio-quality sound. Also, the xHE-AAC will improve “intelligibility in noisy environments”.
Netflix will be employing xHE-AAC to control the metadata and decode-side gain to normalise loudness.

Streaming giant Netflix has introduced a new audio experience for Android users with its latest update that controls the dynamic range of audio and manages loudness within scenes. In its latest update, Netflix said that it will now stream content with Extended HE-AAC with MPEG-D DRC (xHE-AAC) audio extensions on compatible Android devices (Android 9.0 and above). The new audio experience will bring studio-quality sound on the compatible Android smartphones and will allow Netflix to control the dynamic range and dialogue levels in terms of audio.
The new update focuses on loudness management, dynamic range, and dialogue levels. Loudness is the subjective perception of sound pressure and dialogue level pertains to the audio quality of dialogues within a TV series or a movie. Netflix says that the goal of loudness management is to play all titles at a consistent volume, relative to each other
