Tsurikov was the director of the El Paso Museum of History and the interim director of the El Paso Museum of Art. After his arrest was announced, the city of El Paso issued a statement saying:  The City does not publicly comment on personnel issues. Mr. von Tsurikov is no longer an employee of the City of El Paso. He was put in charge of the El Paso Museum of History in August 2018. He was named interim director of the El Paso Museum of Art in August 2019. He still was listed as the director of both museums on their websites on Thursday afternoon.
