NEGAUNEE The Teal Lake Melt-Down fundraiser officially came to an end on Monday, April 5, at 3:18 p.m. when the headframe submerged through the ice. The headframe was placed on the ice of Teal Lake in mid-January, and until April 1 the community purchased $5 tickets for a guess as to when it would submerge. Mike Guenette guessed the headframe would go out of sight on April 5 at 3:01 p.m., making him the closest guess and the lucky winner of $2,188. A check presentation was held with Negaunee Lions Club members Neil Lynch, Mike Smock and Dave Hallgren presenting the check to Mike Guenette. Also in attendance was Bob Hendrickson, executive director of the GINCC, to congratulate Guenette on his win. Hallgren was the seller of this year’s winning ticket.

ClwydAlyn donates items to North Wales foodbanks in Reverse Advent scheme

A LOCAL social housing company has donated boxes full of food and other items to several North Wales foodbanks in its Reverse Advent scheme. ClwydAlyn Housing s Reverse Advent Calendar sees staff members and residents in supported living facilities donate an item each day throughout November ready to deliver to a local food bank in early December. This means food banks will have time to make up food parcels and distribute the contents before Christmas. This year s scheme has been a huge success, with enough items collected to benefit nine North Wales foodbanks. The company collected the items at each of its supported living facilities in North Wales, and to allow staff that have been working from home the chance to donate, the company set up a PayPal donation page - which raised over £70.
